Boycott of PayPal
On January 15th, 2008, I received an email from James Hodder, treasurer and member secretary of the Federation of Canadian Naturists, stating that on December 16th, 2007, PayPal had arbitrarily shut down access to it's accounts and was refusing the national organization service on the grounds that it had somehow violated PayPal's acceptable use policy, and was demanding the removal of all references to PayPal from it's site and subsequent publications.
The FCN/FQN is the national liaison organization for most naturist groups in Canada.
It DOES NOT:
- deal in pornography,
- sell obscene material, or
- maintain a website for mature audiences.
They promote a wholesome, healthful, family-oriented lifestyle of body acceptance; promote public awareness of naturist values and dispel harmful myths; and even deal directly with government agencies to help fight unconstitutional and unjust legislation and develop laws, policies, and referrence materials that recognize and support the civil rights of naturists.
In short, naturism is based on the principal, recognized by most societies, that the human body, in and of itself, is natural and not illicit; and that it's equation to sex and obscenity in popular media as a means of profit is degrading and harmful to both society in general, and the physical and mental health of individuals.
Their insinuation that our lifestyle is obscene, and the prejudicial grouping of us into that category and further refusal of service without recourse is both insulting and ignorant, and displays a level of discrimination comparable to homophobia and antisemitism. Our ideals and beliefs, worldwide, have stood the test of time and survived uninformed legislation, religious and social persecution, and fascist governments, most notably those of Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union and the early decades of Communist China.
In their response to the FCN's lengthy effort to communicate and resolve this issue, PayPal has finally stated that they will not allow naturists to sell their services or goods. Given PayPal's widespread use and acceptance in so many facets of e-commerce, especially Ebay, they are literally denying a legal, politically-recognized minority group a place to sell their goods at public markets, based solely on their beliefs. This behaviour is unacceptable, immoral, and may in fact violate Canadian anti-discrimination laws.
Until PayPal decides to end it's ignorant, discriminatory, and hurtful treatment of our people, neither Canterbury Horse and Carriage nor CHC Sleddog Supply will utilize PayPal's services.
I, as a naturist, a businessman, and a Canadian, believe in the indiscriminate treatment of all law-abiding peoples, regardless of Age, Religion, Skin Colour, Sexual-Preference, or Textile-Orientation, and I hereby encourage everyone who believes likewise to boycott Paypal, and further write in and explain how you feel about their unjust treatment of naturists.
For The Cause,
Cameron Buttigieg
"One of the greatest dangers for German culture and morality is the so-called naked culture movement. It takes away women's natural shame and robs men of their respect for women, so destroying the conditions for real culture."
-1933 Nazi edict banning a newly emerging and flourishing naturist culture.
Many naturists were rounded up and labelled deviant or mentally ill, and executed along with Jews, homosexuals, political activists, the infirm, and anyone else who didn't conform to National Purity during this horrific period in human history.

The following is an email I sent to PayPal declaring this boycott and our reasons:
To Whom It May Concern,
On this date of January 15th, 2008, I received an email from James Hodder, treasurer and member secretary of the Federation of Canadian Naturists, stating that PayPal has arbitrarily shut down access to it's accounts and is refusing the national organization service on the grounds that it has somehow violated your acceptable use policy, and is demanding the removal of all references to PayPal from it's site and subsequent publications.

Our ideals have stood the test of time and survived uninformed legislation, persecution, and fascist governments, most notably that of Nazi Germany; and we will outlive you.
Until PayPal decides to reverse it's arbitrary, discriminatory, and hurtful decision, Canterbury Horse and Carriage will no longer utilize PayPal's services.
This letter will be posted to our site and I will also encourage all our contacts, naturist or otherwise, to do likewise and boycott PayPal for the ignorance and prejudice it displays toward our people.
Sincerely,
